Evaluation System

How it works

A transparent, jury-weighted scoring system decides every Brand of the Day, Honorable Mention, Brand of the Month, and Brand of the Year.

Criteria

A fair and transparent system

Every vote scores a submission across four criteria. Each is weighted differently before it's combined into a single score.

Design & Craft

40%

How refined, considered, and well-executed is the visual design?

Strategy

30%

How clearly does the brand strategy solve a real problem for its audience?

Originality

20%

How distinctive is this brand compared to others in its category?

Brand Story

10%

How compelling and coherent is the story behind the brand?

Voting System

Scoring the daily nominees

Once approved, a submission opens for voting for at least 5 days. The window closes at 00:00 UTC, so everything approved on the same day closes together and its winner is announced that morning. Anyone with a completed profile can vote — once per submission, and never on their own work — but not every vote counts toward the result.

Counting votes don't all carry the same weight. They're grouped into three tiers, and each tier's average is blended into the final score at a fixed weight:

Jury

60%

PRO & Agency

32%

Free

8%

The Free tier only includes members who had at least one approved submission when they voted.

Who counts — a vote counts toward the score and the quorum if, when it's cast, the voter is on the jury, is a PRO/Agency member, or has at least one approved submission. Every other member can still vote: those votes are recorded and shown as a separate count on the nominee page, but they don't change the score. Once your first submission is approved, every vote you cast from then on counts. Results decided before this rule was introduced are unchanged.

Outlier protection — once a tier has collected enough votes, its single highest- and single lowest-scoring vote are both set aside before averaging — so neither a coordinated block of high votes nor one bad-faith low vote can swing the result alone.

Quorum — a submission needs at least 5 counting votes before it's eligible to win anything — votes that don't count toward the score don't count toward the quorum either. If it doesn't clear that threshold before its voting window closes, it won't be awarded.

Confidence weighting — a submission's score is nudged toward the site-wide average until it has collected enough counting votes to stand fully on its own — an early score built on very few votes carries less certainty than one backed by many.

Consistency weighting — a voter's full track record, not just one vote, is checked for a pattern of always rating everything at the very top or bottom of the scale with no real variation. Votes from that pattern count for less — genuinely differentiated ratings, however generous or strict, are unaffected.

New account pacing — A free account with no approved submission of its own can cast one vote every 24 hours, and those votes don't count toward the score. Both limits lift once that account has a submission approved, and neither applies to PRO/Agency members or the jury — they're there to stop a fresh free account from being used to burst-vote a friend's work, not to keep new or paying members from voting.

Submission to Award

From submission to Brand of the Year

01

Submit

Designers upload their brand work — at least 5 images and a short description — from their dashboard.

02

Review

Our team checks every submission before it goes live. Once approved, its voting window opens immediately.

03

Voting

Open for at least 5 days, closing at 00:00 UTC. Any member with a completed profile can vote — once per submission, and never on your own work. Votes from the jury, PRO/Agency members and members with an approved submission count toward the score, weighted as above; other votes are shown separately and don't count. The score stays hidden until voting closes, so early votes can't anchor later ones.

04

Honorable Mention

When a day's voting windows close, the runner-up — the second-highest score that day, with at least 5 counting votes — becomes that day's Honorable Mention.

05

Brand of the Day

The highest-scoring submission whose window closed that day, with at least 5 counting votes, becomes Brand of the Day.

06

Brand of the Month

At the end of each month, the best-scoring Brand of the Day winner from that month — one that was actually voted on — is crowned Brand of the Month.

07

Brand of the Year

At the end of each year, the best-scoring Brand of the Month winner from that year is crowned Brand of the Year.
