The task was to develop a name and visual identity for a two-day conference focused on climate change. The conference brings together experts from the fields of ecology, science, technology, art, and public policy, with the goal of encouraging discussions on climate change, sustainable development, and the future of our planet. The objective was to create a consistent and flexible visual system that could be applied across a variety of digital formats. The conference was named RE_NEW, a title that references renewable energy while also suggesting the idea of renewal and positive change. This year's theme focuses on air pollution, with the slogan REINVENT CLEAN AIR, which clearly communicates the conference's message while incorporating the RE element from the conference name. The visual identity was inspired by the appearance of particulate matter (PM) under a microscope, one of the major contributors to air pollution. The colour palette consists of blue, pink, and orange, reflecting the vibrant colours often seen in microscopic imagery. The particle structures were abstracted into textured rectangles and circles, forming a flexible visual language used throughout the identity. The typography combines the distinctive and contemporary Sligoil Micro Bold with the clean, minimalist sans-serif typeface Geist, creating a balanced visual system that feels both engaging and accessible, particularly to a younger audience. The identity was applied across a range of promotional materials, including billboards, tickets, printed materials, and merchandise.
