STOREY is a parcel carrier built for Egypt's apartment blocks, and the operating system it runs on: the courier's phone, the customer's link, the dispatcher's desk and the website shops book from. Delivery in Cairo doesn't fail on the road. It fails in the last fifty metres: the gate, the side door, the lift, the fifth floor, the second door on the left. STOREY records the way in once, by the person who lives there or the first courier through the door, and hands it to every courier after. Right door. First time. The name is both halves of the product: a storey is the floor, a story is how you get there. The letters are drawn the way a building is drawn in section, heavy floor slabs and light walls; the S is a switchback stair, the route in, and its last bay is the parcel, set down at the door in signal orange. Everything else is ink and paper, the way an architect's sheet is printed, and the whole product lives in that drawing: buildings cut open, an axonometric map of the neighbourhood, four films.
